Hedi is determined to take control of her own life.

After leaving Bradford College and transferring to Catholic University, she hopes to move in with Claudia. But Gwen has other ideas. Between her mother’s fears about germs, break-ins, unlocked doors, and anything she considers unsafe, Heidi finds herself once again struggling against the walls Gwen has built around her.

Then, over lunch with her cousin Edward, Heidi begins looking beyond her mother’s expectations and asking a bigger question:

What does she want to do with her life?

Political science? Psychology? Marine biology? Or perhaps something unexpected: theater arts, costuming, and history, inspired by the world she’d known since childhood.

Edward’s White House pager interrupts their lunch, reminding her that family secrets are never far away.
